Season Look Ahead, Tiger Sharks

The CAFL season opened with a tough and hard-fought CAFL Cup pre-season tournament.

Each team came away with a win on the day however the Tiger Sharks won the tournament based on percentage. All that remains now for each team is their first game of the home and away season. Each team has planned their way through the trade and draft period and with the CAFL Cup under their belts CAFL media will talk with the captains to gain their insight on how their teams pre-season went and how they are preparing for round one.

First off CAFL media speak with Tigers Co Captains David and Derek Smith.

CAFL Media: Having seen your team play now in the CAFL cup do you feel you drafted well?

Derek: Yes, we picked up some good players and picked up some needed hight in Danny and Fridge which is something we were concerned about previously.

CAFL Media: If you had to pick out 1 player who stood out for you in the cup who would it be and Why?

David: I thought Danny had a great game up front and he could be a big player for us do to his versatility.

CAFL Media: Who do you feel could have a big season or improve most this year?

Derek: Fridge is in line for a big season now he has decided to focus on footy. He’s always had ability and a big roost but with more consistent focus on his short game I think he will come on even more.

CAFL Media: With each team vying for top spot what do you believe will help you team attain that this year?

David: As with last season I think the performance of our female players will be key. Kirsty chipped in with bags of goals last season helping us put scoreboard pressure on teams. When Nicky starts adding to that it could be a big difference to games.

CAFL Media: How are you preparing for round 1?

Derek:Carefully. We ar just making sure we can get as many of our players down round 1 as possible.

CAFL Media: Lastly who would your early prediction be for MVP this year?

David:It’s hard to see past Thomo for MVP but Bos may deserve it for sacrificing his positive game to tag people out the game. He did it in last seasons grand final and again in the CAFL cup and while it’s not as obvious a boost to the team it is invaluable to the Tigers success.

Round 1 for the tigers means playing against the Makos who we will look at shortly.
